De foto’s die waren ingestuurd voor de buitenlucht expositie “The Fence” in Amerika en Canada zijn niet door de selectie gekomen. Daarover kreeg ik vandaag bericht.

The Fence is een 5.600 foot (ongeveer 1.700 meter) lange schutting waarop de foto’s worden afgedrukt. Het is in feite een reizende expositie, want de schutting wordt in in totaal zeven Amerikaanse steden (Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Santa Fe, Durham en Denver) aan het publiek getoond of zoals de organisatie het zelf noemt: “it’s large-scale traveling photography exhibition”.

Voor de wedstrijd was een vijftal foto’s in de categorie People ingestuurd met als titel Face the Fence, zoals al in een eerder blogbericht was geschreven.

In de e-mail de mededeling dat de foto’s helaas niet gebruikt zullen worden voor The Fence 2018:

Dear Tjeerd,

Thank you so much for submitting your work to THE FENCE 2018.

Our jurors have spent the past several weeks reviewing the amazing bodies of work we received this year and have now reached their final decisions. The caliber of the submitted work gave the jury many difficult choices.

Tjeerd we regret to inform you that your series “Face the Fence”, was not selected for The FENCE 2018.
We are truly grateful that you chose to share your photography with us, and appreciate the commitment, time, and effort that went into its creation.

We wish we could include so many more photographers on the FENCE but we are limited by the physical constraints of the public space available to us in each city, to present these beautiful photographic stories each year.
