Vanmiddag is de beschrijving van de vier foto’s van Merlin die worden gepubliceerd in het fotoboek Photography in the Visual Culture 2021 uitgegeven door Musa International Art Space, Italië, ingestuurd.
Daarnaast ook een korte biografie.
De foto’s zullen ook geëxposeerd worden in Milaan.
In het laatste blogbericht over deze publicatie en expositie schreef ik dat het leuk zou zijn wanneer Merlin en haar moeder ook iets over de foto’s zouden schrijven, maar helaas is dat niet gelukt.
Een beschrijving van de foto’s in twee tot drie zinnen, zoals werd gevraagd door de curator van Musa International Art Space, is nog best lastig, want bij elke foto hoort wel een (flink) verhaal.
De teksten die zijn opgestuurd staan onder de foto’s.
Merlin (0217)
This photo was shot in the corridor of the house of Merlin. Behind her there’s a softbox which wraps the light nicely around Merlins head. In front of Merlin is a reflector, bouncing light back to lighten up the shadows.
Merlin (0221)
This photo was shot in the livingroom of Merlins parents. My studiowork is always made with my portable photostudio. I set up my photo studio in the model’s living room. It goes without saying that the size of the living room differs from shoot to shoot.
Merlin (0314-2)
This photo was also shot in the livingroom of Merlins parents. A softbox was placed above Merlin, but in a way that the brim of the hat didn’t block the eyes of Merlin. Retouching and postwork of each photo will take up to four hours to get everything out of the photo that’s in it.
The photo was shot on location in the provence of Flevoland. Merlin had to promote the clothes she’s wearing for a brand and she asked me to make photos of these clothes. I used the walls of the buildings beside her as leading lines.
Of de teksten ook gebruikt worden bij de expositie is nog maar de vraag.
Van de curator begreep ik dat er onderhandelingen gaande zijn voor de expositie op een prominente plaats in Milaan. De exacte locatie hiervoor wordt nog niet gedeeld omdat de onderhandelingen nu nog plaats vinden.
De expositie zelf zal in november van dit jaar worden gehouden.
