Vandaag ontving ik in de e-mail een bericht met de onderwerpregel: “Congrats! You’re one of our TOP 60 MASTERS 2022”.
Zo’n felicitatie is leuk en ook dat je tot de top 60 behoort van, wat achteraf blijkt, de kunstenaars van Art Tour International Magazine.
Maar wat is het precies?
De strekking van de e-mail, die persoonlijk aan mij gericht is, is de volgende:
“Dear Tjeerd,
Congrats! We’ve seen your works we’ve selected you as one of ATIM’s Top 60 Masters for the 2022 year, this is your official invitation! Our award ceremony will take place in June 2022 in New York. (traveling is not a requirement, we can ship your award).”
Uit dit eerste deel van de e-mail kan worden afgeleid dat ATIM, wat staat voor Art Tour International Magazine, mijn werk heeft gezien en dat op grond daarvan ik word uitgenodigd om deel te nemen aan de Top 60 Masters 2022. In feite is dit een award – een internationale prijs -, zo blijkt uit het feit dat de uitreiking daarvan plaats vindt in juni 2022 in New York.
“The ATIM’s Top 60 Masters Award is he most prestigious awards in the art industry, with only 60 artists selected each year. The New York Weekly has nicknamed it “The Oscars of the Visual Art.”
Zoals wel vaker het geval bij dergelijke awards, wordt dit de “meest prestigieuze prijs in de kunstindustrie” genoemd en blijkbaar door The New York Weekly bestempeld als “The Oscars of the Visual Art”.
“As a recipient of the ATIM’S Top 60 Masters Awards, we’ll get you featured on Google News, Fox, ABC, and 100+ other media outlets, along with award-winning artists Fabian Perez, Lorenzo Quinn, and other important figures!”
Blijkbaar heeft deze organisatie (nauwe) banden en contacten met Google News, Fox, ABC en een honderdtal andere media, waar je als winnaar van deze award in de spotlights wordt gebracht.

Via de website die in de e-mail wordt gegeven, is in ieder geval te zien hoe de Sculpture Award “Rising Above” er uit ziet en wordt nog wat meer informatie gegeven over deze prijs.
Dat is me nogal niet wat.
Hoe serieus is dit te nemen en vooral ook: wat voor een prijskaartje zal daar aan hangen?
Ik zal een en ander nog moeten uitzoeken in hoeverre dit geen scam is, maar ook daadwerkelijk een mogelijkheid om mijn studio en mijn modellen in de schijnwerpers te brengen in New York.
Ik zal de contactpersoon een e-mail sturen dat ik geïnteresseerd ben, maar wel nog wat nadere informatie behoef.
Daarnaast vraag ik me ook af wat de deadlines zijn van het aanmelden en het insturen van werk/foto’s.
