Op dit moment gebeurt er heel veel rondom publicaties, internationale prijzen en ook de persoonlijke uitnodiging van de Monat Gallery in Madrid (Spanje) met een voorstel voor samenwerking met deze galerie op internationaal vlak, dat de dagen voorbij zijn voordat ik er erg in heb.
Het voorstel van de Monat Gallery heb ik goed bestudeerd en heb ik daar een aantal vragen over.
Die heb ik vandaag naar de contactpersoon gemaild.
Naast de vele dingen die nu spelen rondom Studio Tjeerd en die vooral ook leuk zijn, heb ik nog mijn “gewone” baan in het onderwijs die, zoals nu weer in de lockdown, telkens weer een stuk flexibiliteit vraagt.
Het is dan lastig om alle ballen hoog te houden en moet ik prioriteiten stellen: wat moet het eerst gebeuren.
Voor wat betreft de Monat Gallery in Madrid, gaat het om een langduriger proces en samenwerking en kan op mijn prioriteitenlijstje even wat lager ingeschaald worden.
In het vorige blogbericht werd geschreven dat ik een PDF-bestand toegestuurd had gekregen met meer informatie met betrekking tot de “(UN)Fair Milano 2022″ die gehouden wordt van 9 tot en met 13 februari in Milaan, Italië, en dat ik die nog goed wilde gaan bestuderen.
Dat laatste heb ik gedaan en daarnaast heb ik ook alle andere informatie die de contactpersoon me had toegestuurd, goed bestudeerd.
Het roept wel een aantal vragen op die ik graag beantwoord wil hebben, vandaar dat ik ook een e-mail terug heb gestuurd met deze vragen.
“I’ve read the PDF’s you sent me as well as the texts in the emails and I can tell you I’m really interested in collaboration with Monat Gallery.
I have some questions, though.
1. Am I right that we eventually bring down the portfolio to four photos of which two will be for the (UN)Fair artfair and two others will be for an exhibition in the gallery (for 30 days)? Or can these be the same (for whatever reason)?
2. When signing the representation contract, the gallery will showcase my work during the (UN)Fair artfair (5 days in February) and during a groupexhibiton (30 days). In total time that’s just a bit more than a month. But we’ll sign for a collaboration for one year. What will the gallery do for me in the leftover months (rounded off to 11 months).
3. When a photo might be sold during the groupexhibition, will this photo still be in the exhibition or does the gallery switch with a photo that was not yet in the exhibition?
4. When a group exhibition has been planned and due to possible corona restrictions (lock down) it will not be able to open the gallery, does the exhibition will be postponed or cancelled (that is: the exhibition will never take place during the contractyear)? The same goes for the (UN)Fair artfair.
5. How big does the gallery estimate the chance that a photo or photos will actually be sold?
6. In your previous email, you ask, for making the personal contract, for an ID-number. I hope you understand that I’m a bit hesitant about that, considering the privacy and the possibility of data leaks. Could you specify me why you, beside the personal contract, need that particular information? And how does the gallery protect the data?
7. When the contract year is over, is there a possibility to add another year and is there perhaps a discount for the following year?
I know these are a lot of questions, but I want to assure you my first impression of you and the gallery is that you’re truly professional and you’re working for the artist.
My experience with galleries hasn’t always been the best.
My intention is definitely to work with you, because I’ve a good feeling about it.
