FMNYC – What is your greatest weakness, as a model? What are you doing to improve on it?

MERLIN SEN – My biggest weakness is that I like to work alone with a photographer (solo shoot). In this way I have the space for myself and the assignment I have to process. But my performance is also much greater and more professional, my photos are also much stronger than when I work together with other models.
– Of course I also enjoy working with other models. I’m also working hard to improve on that. And in the future I will be able to better radiate my professionalism together with other models.

FMNYC – Did 2020 affect your creativity as a model?

MERLIN SEN – Of course, the year 2021 has influenced my development as a model. Certainly it had to do with the world pandemic, which limited me to travel. But luckily I can respond well to situations and have continued my dreams and modeling work in a different way and worked hard.

FMNYC – What does a “new normal world” post-pandemic?

MERLIN SEN – It’s too early to talk about that. I truly hope that our lives can become normal soon, but that is certainly a long way for all of us and that also goes for modeling work. I hope we can get to work soon and travel normally as well.

FMNYC – What are you looking forward to in 2021 and 2022?

MERLIN SEN – I am absolutely looking forward to the year 2022 with many beautiful moments and I hope that I can do more work as a model than last year. I already have quite a few of appointments/shoots in my agenda, so I hope everything goes according to plan.

FMNYC – When you’re not working, how do you like to spend free time?

MERLIN SEN – I’m still going to highschool so I’ve a lot of lessons to attend to. In addition, I do modeling and when I have some spare time left I’d like to ride horses. I’m always busy planning with my agenda to schedule modeling activities. I also visit my friends regularly. I am a true family person: that is very important to me. So I also like doing fun things together with my parents, my brother and my sweet grandmothers.

FMNYC – Favorite photographers?

MERLIN SEN – I’d like to shoot with Mr. Tjeerd Doosje from www.studiotjeerd.nl (Instagram account @studiotjeerd). This gentleman is a very nice person from whom you can learn a lot and receive professional directions about the poses and how to get the best out of you to show yourself in the best possible way. I have learned a lot from this photographer and it’s always a bonus in being a model for him. I have two other photographers that I enjoy working with. They are also very nice and professional photographers with a lot of respect and a lot of intentions. All these three photographers were the first where I started taking my professional photos. They are just toppers.

FMNYC – What is your personal style?

MERLIN SEN – I think and am pretty sure that I am still developing my personal style. Sometimes I really like sporty clothes and sometimes I like to keep up with the fashion. I’m still figuring out what’s best for me.

FMNYC – What is your favorite part of the modeling industry?

MERLIN SEN – My favorite part of the modeling industry is definitely breaking through as a catwalk model in the future, but commercials are also fun to do, basically everything that has to do with modeling is always a nice bonus for broader insights and also for the experience as a model. All assignements are welcome. I like to travel and meet new people.

FMNYC – What is your dream campaign and why?

MERLIN SEN – My dream campaign is to be able to work for major brands such as Prada, Tom Ford, LV, Victoria Secret. As mentioned before, the more assignments I have, the more experience I got and the better model I can become.

FMNYC – What are your goals as a model?

MERLIN SEN – My goal is to grow up as a model, to work professionally and for the modeling industry. It’s also very important for me to enjoy the work I do, and to radiate as a model. I would love that.
