Naar aanleiding van een reminder die ik naar de contactpersoon van Artifact Gallery had gestuurd, ontving ik vanavond een antwoord op mijn vragen.

De vragen betroffen onder meer hoe Artifact Gallery mij heeft gevonden, maar ook hoe het zit met de verschillende opties die worden aangeboden: staat dat los van de eventuele (gratis) expositie of is dat onderdeel van?

Vraag:
I’m a bit curious how you found me and what makes you think that my photos are a supplement to the artists and works you’re already collaborating with.
So what appeals to you about my work?

Antwoord:
We were familiarized with your work by one of our contributing curators who may have seen your art/at an exhibition or online.

Vraag:
Am I right (did I read it right) that you, as a gallery, don’t ask for a fee for the exhibition(s), and you only want a commission of 25% when a photo might be sold?

Antwoord:
You are correct, there is no fee for the exhibition space and our commission is 25%.

Vraag:
The fact you want to exhibit my work also means, in my humble opinion, that you see opportunities to sell my work. Am I right?
If so, could you give me an estimate what the chances are to sell a piece/photo and also what would be the selling price (street value)?

Antwoord:
We regularly exhibit photographs and sell them.

Vraag:
From what I understand, I do have to order one of the four options you mentioned (which is your revenue model), but I’m a bit confused about point 4: Public relations.
You mention A, B and C but unlike the others, there’s no pricetag. It only is on D. Does this mean that D is the collective price for A, B, C together and you can opt in for D which is Public relations? So in short, when chosing option 4, the price is $4,000 and you’ll get A, B, C and D?

Is it necessary to order one of the four options in order to be eligible for an exhibition, or can you only choose the exhibition itself?

Antwoord:
Artists contribute exclusively to marketing options to promote their exhibitions and sales.
Each part of Public Relations is $1000.
You may select any combination of marketing.
The more you can afford, the more successful will be your exhibition.
To schedule it please confirm your choice of the month in 2022 and marketing options.

Nog niet op alle vragen is een, voor mij bevredigend, antwoord gekomen.
En die wil ik wel graag hebben voordat ik in zee ga met Artifact Gallery, hoewel het een mooie mogelijkheid lijkt om mijn werk zichtbaar te krijgen in New York.

Ik gun mezelf de tijd en ruimte om er nog een keer goed over na te denken, de voors en tegens tegen elkaar af te wegen, maar door de grote drukte op dit moment (het doen van fotoshoots, de foto’s  bewerken die daaruit voortkomen, dingen in orde brengen voor publicaties en internationale prijzen) heb ik daar nu even niet de rust voor.

En die tijd, ondanks dat er nu 2022 genoemd wordt om een expositie in te plannen (dat was in een eerdere e-mail namelijk 2024) is er ook nog.
