In een eerder blogbericht schreef ik al dat de foto van Merlin, die afgelopen maand fysiek in Florence tentoon is gesteld, mogelijk ook in een fysieke expositie in prestigieuze galerie Parijs kan komen.
Maar in welke galerie is dat dan?
Daarover gaat dit blogbericht.
De uitnodiging voor de fysieke groepsexpositie in Galleria Bortone in Parijs ontving ik van de curator van Associazione Culturale “Sei l’Arte”.
De galerie is gesitueerd in de buurt van de Seine, zoals te zien is op Google Maps.
Je kunt op Google Maps niet de straat en de voorgevel bekijken, omdat het straatje niet toegankelijk is voor auto’s.
Gelukkig zijn er via de website van de galerie nog wel wat foto’s te bekijken.
Op dezelfde website staat te lezen:
“The Corrado BORTONE Art Gallery Space is a place dedicated to all styles of exhibition.
It is located in the heart of the artistic district of Saint Germain des Prés at 13, rue Mazarine in Paris.
The Espace Galerie d’Art is available to rent for all your exhibitions and events.
Corrado will welcome you and advise you on your project.”
De galerie oog wat smal, maar bestaat uit drie verdiepingen, zo kreeg ik in een toegestuurde PDF te zien.
Van de curator Mara Campaner van Associazione Culturale “Sei l’Arte”, die de expositie regelt, ontving ik nog de volgende informatie:
“The artshow is open to all artists, of any level, who deal with contemporary art, who will be invited to attend the exhibition.
The works will be carefully evaluated in research, quality and innovation by the curator Dr. Mara Campaner.”
Ze schrijft hierin, naar mijn idee, dat alleen door haar geselecteerde kunstenaars (van elk niveau), zijn uitgenodigd en dat ter beoordeling ingestuurd werk zorgvuldig wordt geevalueerd en beoordeeld om toegelaten te worden tot de expositie.
In feite is dat laatste proces al voltooid, gezien het feit dat de curator zelf met het voorstel kwam om de foto die in Florence was geweest ook in deze expositie op te nemen.
Ook zij schrijft over waar de galerie zich bevindt:
The gallery is located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, one of the most elegant and fascinating places to visit in Paris.
It is famous for being the district of culture and elegance, publishing, art galleries and fashion.
Over the years it has become the protagonist of the intellectual life of Paris from the seventeenth to the twentieth century.
Writers, artists, musicians, actors, philosophers have always made it their meeting point: the Encyclopedists, for example, used to meet at Café Landelle or Café Procope where, according to reports, the relationship between Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine.
Ernest Hemingway, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Albert Camus, Jacques Prévert, Oscar Wilde, Pablo Picasso (who painted Guernica in Rue des Grands Augustins) and Salvador Dalì frequented the narrow and picturesque streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Today it is possible to sit in one of the cafes or jazz clubs in the past frequented by famous people who have decided to stop here.
There are many attractions: the tree-lined avenues, the squares, the fountains, the gardens, the numerous cafes, the colorful fruit markets, the shopping streets (Vuitton, Cartier, Armani), the
many book shops, the prestigious galleries, art and antiques, attract thousands of tourists every year.
Over het thema van de expositie L’Invisible schrijft ze:
The exhibition “L’Invisible” arises from the internal dimension of the soul, thanks to the talent and ingenuity of the artist, the work is born from the hands (or tools) and finds its space in reality.
In the middle, or between the “real being” of the work and its conception in the mind of the creator, there is a materially empty space.
This existential “void” (and not just material) has stimulated humanity from the very beginning to find everchanging ways of expressing and making the invisible visible.
The visual arts, widely understood, change shape and skin continuously; history, with its convulsions, imposes ever different schools of thought and conceptual models.
But the constant of “visible” art is always the same: amaze, make people think, send a message, make immortal what is feared mortal, approach the unknown or imagine it.
Het is lastig om de foto van Merlin in dit perspectief te plaatsen, maar je zou het zo kunnen uitleggen dat het onzichtbare de ambities van Merlin zijn.
In ieder geval kan ik me wel zo voorstellen hoe de foto van Merlin in de galerie komt te hangen:
Zoals ik in mijn vorige blogbericht al aangaf, hoop ik hierover nog met de moeder van Merlin in overleg te gaan om te besluiten wat we gaan doen.
Dat is helaas nog niet gelukt.
Aan het einde van de week wil ik in ieder geval een beslissing gemaakt hebben en daarvan ook de curator van Sei l’Arte op de hoogte te stellen.
Associazione Culturale “Sei l’Arte”, die de expositie regelt, is een organisatie in Italië waarmee Studio Tjeerd in de afgelopen jaren al talloze keren heeft samengewerkt.
Daartoe behoorden onder andere een digitale expositie tijdens het filmfestival in Venetië in 2019 en 2018, een digitale expositie tijdens een grote kunstbeurs in Treviso (Italië 2019, 2018), een digitale expositie in Weiz (Oostenrijk, 2018) en twee fysieke exposities in Petritoli (Italië, 2019) en Florence (Italië, 2022).
