Vanavond trof ik een mailtje aan van ViewBug met als onderwerp: “Your photo received an award in a contest!” en dat maakt toch wel nieuwsgierig.
De tekst luidt:

De inzet van deze wedstrijd is een virtuele expositie, zo valt te lezen op de wedstrijdpagina van ViewBug:

Your Photo In The Exhibition
The project aims to illustrate the beauty, fascination, and prominence of the people and our planet today as captured by top creatives around the World.
From population, creatures, perspectives, and metropolis, the selected photographer to be showcased will be contacted directly via email.
In het blogbericht van vanavond schreef ik dat foto Rona (0208) relatief gezien erg hoog was geëindigd bij de publieksstemmen van deze wedstrijd en dat levert nu dus blijkbaar ook een finaleplaats op.
Anders dan bij voorgaande wedstrijden is er niet een link naar de finalisten van de wedstrijd en is het dus ook niet duidelijk hoeveel finalisten er zijn.
De foto is één keer eerder finalist geweest bij de fotowedstrijd “Fill the Frame” in mei 2023 en eindigde bij diezelfde wedstrijd met een 3e plaats als Runner Up.
Daarnaast was de foto één keer featured in november 2020 en kreeg hij de Top Shot Award 21 in mei 2021.
Het is inmiddels de 53e finaleplaats op ViewBug sinds november 2015.
Vier foto’s zijn ook daadwerkelijk in de prijzen gevallen bij een wedstrijd op ViewBug:

Het is nog niet duidelijk wanneer de winnaar en/of alle finalisten bekend worden gemaakt.
In de ruim acht jaar dat er foto’s worden ingeschreven voor fotowedstrijden op de website van ViewBug is er een inmiddels indrukwekkende lijst met featured foto’s (en finaleplaatsen) tot stand gekomen, zoals te zien is op de onderscheidingen pagina op deze site.
