Vandaag heb ik de keuze gemaakt om een viertal foto’s van Merlin in te zenden voor de Muse Photography Awards 2024.
De Muse Photography Awards is een internationale wedstrijd voor fotografen, zowel amateur en professioneel en is onderdeel van de International Awards Associate (IAA), gesetteld in New York, waartoe ook de London Photography Awards, European Photography Awards en de New York Photography Awards behoren, waaraan al eerder is meegedaan.
De deelname aan de Muse Photography Awards is nu voor de tweede keer.
Twee jaar geleden was ook een foto van Merlin ingestuurd voor deze wedstrijd en die foto ontving maar liefst 2x goud en 2x zilver in de verschillende categorieën.
Het bijbehorende beeldje heb ik vorig jaar september kunnen overhandigen aan Merlin.
Ook dit jaar is meegedaan aan de Muse Photography Awards 2023 en opnieuw heb ik daarvoor een foto van Merlin ingestuurd.
Deze foto bracht het bij de definitieve uitslag tot 3x zilver.

Net als bij alle deelnames aan de wedstrijden van IAA kost het insturen van een foto nog wel de nodige voorbereidingen, keuzes maken en het invullen van de verschillende invoervelden.
Om te beginnen zijn daar de 10 categorieën (die elk weer onderverdeeld zijn in subcategorieën) waarin een foto kan worden ingestuurd.

Ik had nog een tegoed van zes plaatsingen van vorig jaar toen ik een tegoed van tien inzendingen had ingekocht en er vier van heb gebruikt.
Deze zes zijn nu wel allemaal gebruikt voor de foto’s van Merlin.
Foto Merlin (1801) is, in de categorie People Photography ingestuurd voor de subcategorie PE2410 Fine Art.
De foto is ook ingeschreven in de categorie Fine Art Photography, in de subcategorie FA2420 Portrait.
Foto Merlin (1802) is ook, net als foto Merlin (1801), in de categorie People Photography ingestuurd voor de subcategorie PE2410 Fine Art.
Foto Merlin (1803) is, net als foto Merlin (1801), ingeschreven in de categorie Fine Art Photography, in de subcategorie FA2420 Portrait.
De laatste foto die is ingestuurd, Merlin (2102), is nog niet op deze website verschenen, maar is in twee categorieën ingestuurd.
In de categorie Fine Art Photography, in de subcategorie FA2403 Beauty.
En in de categorie Commercial Photography, in de subcategorie CM2403 Beauty & Cosmetics.
Na de foto’s te hebben geüpload, waarbij er nog wat technische informatie moet worden gegeven over de instellingen van de camera, komt de entry checkout.
Daarmee is de inzending nu definitief gedaan en heb ik daar ook de bevestiging van gekregen… waarmee de foto’s nu officieel in competitie zijn voor de MUSE Photography Awards 2024.
Een twaalfkoppige jury, 2 uit Italië, 1 uit de Tsjechische Republiek, 1 uit de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten, 1 uit Maleisië, 1 uit China, 1 uit India, 3 uit de Verenigde Staten, 1 uit Roemenië en 1 uit Frankrijk, zal zich straks buigen over de inzendingen van alle fotografen.
Bij de beoordeling wordt gelet op de volgende dingen (te vinden op de website van de organisatie):

Creativity / Story / Mood
Technical Execution (Composition, Color, Lighting, Exposure and Focus)

Entries receiving an average score under 50 do not receive an award.
The MUSE Photography Awards and International Awards Associate Inc’s decision are final in its sole discretion and binding in relation to all matters relating to Competitions and may not be subject to any discussions or correspondence.
Judging is blind.
All entrant information is removed from entries to prevent bias/conflict of interest.
Hoe worden de winnaars dan bepaald?
Entries are judged at random without comparison to other entries in a category.
Amateur/student photographers are not compared to Professional Photographers in the same category.
To ensure high standards of high quality, a category may have multiple winners or no winners.
Work is critiqued rated by consensus, with the panel of judges determining a rating on a scale of 100 points.
There are FIVE (5) levels of achievement in the competition:
MUSE Photographers of the Year
MUSE Category Winners of the Year (10 Categories)
Platinum MUSE (85-100 points)
Gold MUSE (70-84 points)
Silver MUSE (50-69 points)
The number of awards presented by MUSE Photography Awards is determined by the number of submissions in a given category, the scoring range and the number of tie scores.
De uitslag van de wedstrijd wordt op 12 april bekend gemaakt.
