Vanavond trof ik een mailtje aan van ViewBug met als onderwerp: “Your photo received an award in a contest!” en dat maakt toch wel nieuwsgierig.
Na het aanklikken van de link, kwam ik direct op de portfolio pagina bij een foto van Merlin terecht, namelijk foto Merlin (1807-2).
En op die pagina prijkt nu de volgende award:
Maar hier begint ook wel een beetje de verwarring.
Want waar gaat het nu eigenlijk om: is het wel een Award of is het iets anders?
Op de website van ViewBug staat bij deze wedstrijd het volgende geschreven:

Hiervoor had ik, naast de foto van Merlin, een aantal andere foto’s ingestuurd voor de categorie “People“, maar, anders dan normaal, en in tegenstelling van wat er op de website te lezen is, kon er nu niet op deze foto’s gestemd worden en eerder deze week werd de wedstrijd ook gesloten, zonder dat er ook maar één stem uitgebracht kon worden.

Verderop op de pagina van ViewBug die hoort bij deze wedstrijd worden nog de volgende dingen vermeld:

In celebration of all types of photography, the VIEWBUG team will choose a winner for each category and finalists.
Each category winner and finalist will be featured in a virtual gallery, will receive 50 VIEWBUG Coins, and will become a recommended photographer in the community.”
Zoals ik het nu zie, betekent het dat de foto van Merlin is doorgedrongen tot de finalisten van The Photography Awards 2023 op de website van ViewBug, maar dat zal de tijd leren.
En wat valt er dan te winnen?

Zoals hierboven al geschreven, denk ik / ga ik er van uit, dat de foto van Merlin tot de finalisten behoort.
In dat geval is het nu de 58e keer dat een foto tot de finale van een wedstrijd is doorgedrongen op de website van ViewBug en wie weet wordt deze foto dan straks ook wel de winnaar!
Sinds oktober 2015 dat er foto’s worden ingeschreven voor fotowedstrijden op de website van ViewBug is er een inmiddels indrukwekkende lijst met featured foto’s (en finaleplaatsen) zoals te zien is op de onderscheidingen pagina op deze site.
