Goed een halve week geleden, kreeg ik de vraag van de curator van Art Management Berlin (AMB) of ik weer mee wilde doen aan de The First Berliner Art Book 2025 editie en vandaag kreeg ik daarvoor de officiële persoonlijke uitnodiging.
The First Berliner Art Book is een publicatie in eigen beheer van Art Management Berlin (AMB) die gevestigd is in de Duitse hoofdstad.
Het boek wordt in een relatief kleine oplage (1.500 exemplaren) gedrukt en wordt ter promotie gebruikt voor de kunstenaars die in het Art Book zijn opgenomen.
Een aantal jaar zijn foto’s van Studio Tjeerd gepubliceerd in The First Berliner Art Book, waarvan de laatste in 2022 was.
In 2023 en 2024 is er geen publicatie geweest simpelweg omdat er onvoldoende geschikte foto’s waren om in dit art book te laten publiceren.
Vijf jaar achtereen zijn foto’s gepubliceerd in dit kunstboek:

In het vorige blogbericht is al geschreven dat de vraag van de curator min of meer toevallig kwam, maar naar aanleiding van mijn antwoord dat ik wel geïnteresseerd ben in de 2025 editie, kwam vandaag in de e-mail de persoonlijke uitnodiging.
De e-mail met de persoonlijke uitnodiging is een lange:

The First Berliner Art Book © is a series of Berlin exclusive art books where are featured most prominent contemporary artists of today it’s a concrete contribution to the selected artists.
The First Berliner Art Book © series is also highly recommended publication in the professional worldwide contemporary art circles as this is a valuable resource of information of what’s going on today on the worldwide contemporary art scene.
The participation to The First Berliner Art Book © series is only by Art Management Berlin’s invitation and this art book is not for sell.

– an updated biographical text in English, written in the third person, of no more than 100 words about you and your art, plus any public contact details as email or artist web page.
– 6 images of your recent original works of art of your personal choice along with technical details (title, size, medium and year). Images should be in JPG format with at least 2.4 pixels and 300 dpi that you decide to print in the book.
– 1 your profile photography in JPG, 300dpi, at least 700 pxl
– your short thought about the importance of the ethics and aesthetics in the contemporary art.
Terms and conditions of our discounted summer offer for you:
* 2 pages, including 6 works of art and the text
* a third page (additionally until 5 pages) you can order separately, including another 3 additional images of your artworks on each page.
In this price are also included:
– 3 exemplars of the art books.
– Promotion of the art book in more than 300 worldwide galleries. The distribution list is constantly updated.
– Worldwide advertising campaign of the artists included in The First Berliner Art Book 2025 © with Art Management Berlin exclusive partner Sony Center am Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.
– inclusion for free of your presentation text about your artworks (ca. 200 words) along with 10 artworks in our new AMB exclusive Website with the possibility to sell your original artworks on AMB Art Shop Gallery platform. If you would like to sell more that 10 artworks there’s a small fee to be honored for any additional work of art for the processing your data. Please to send us also your price list. Art Management Berlin reserves the rights to deduct 40 % commitions from every sell on the Art Management Berlin’s exclusive Shop Gallery platform.
The fee for your order has to be concluded by deadline with a bank transfer and please to send us the proves of the payment for AMB records, as also your post address for the invoice.

As soon as it will be ready you’ll will receive the PDF layout(s) of your page(s) for your final approval.
Entries will be in alphabetical order using the artist’s first name.
The art book will be printed in March 2025 and the delivery of the art books and the worldwide advertising campaign will begin in April 2025.
At the same time we will ensure that your images will not be used in any other way than in editing this book respecting the copyrights.
Acceptance of Terms
The artist guarantee the originality of the artworks that present, implicitly accept all the rules contained in this announcement.
The participating artist declares to have read these rules and accepts them in all its points.

In het kort komt het hier op neer dat AMB zich vereerd voelt om weer foto’s op te nemen in het art book en mij te vertegenwoordigen.
Het kunstboek komt uit in een oplage van 1.500 exemplaren en is niet verkrijgbaar in de gewone winkel, maar wordt internationaal gepromoot, ook met de exclusieve partner Sony Center am Potsdamer Platz Berlin.
Er kunnen in totaal 6 foto’s worden ingestuurd die op 2 pagina’s worden gepubliceerd, tezamen met een biografie en een stukje over de ethiek en esthetiek van hedendaagse kunst.
Daarnaast is het mogelijk om foto’s via de website van AMB te verkopen; als ik het goed begrijp is dat tot en met 10 foto’s die bij deelname aan het project zijn inbegrepen.
Er kunnen meerdere pagina’s worden bijgekocht en dat geldt ook voor het aantal foto’s dat in de webshop kan worden verkocht.
Gezien het feit dat ik al vijf keer eerder heb meegedaan aan dit project, zijn de deelnamekosten sterk gereduceerd voor mij, wat het extra aantrekkelijk maakt.
Alleen: er wordt een deadline aangegeven van 15 juli aanstaande (over goed een week al) en dát is voor mij echt te kort dag.
Allereerst zit ik volop in de afronding van het schooljaar en voor een publicatie als deze, moet ik wel even wat tijd reserveren.
Daarnaast – en niet het meest onbelangrijke – zal ik (ouders van) modellen moeten benaderen met de vraag of zij hier aan mee willen werken en aangezien de zomervakanties aanstaande zijn, is het maar de vraag of ik hen binnen een week te pakken kan krijgen en overleggen óf en welke foto’s er dan in het kunstboek moeten komen.
Als ik even wat tijd kan vinden, zal ik wel de (ouders van) modellen polsen en anders vraag ik aan de curator om uitstel van de deadline.
Wordt hoe dan ook vervolgd.
