Is het toeval of heeft een e-mail die ik gisteren gestuurd heb aan de curator van Musa International Art Space en de uitgever van het fotoboek Photography in the Visual Culture 2021, Serradifalco Editore, geholpen?
In ieder geval kreeg ik vandaag een mailtje dat de boeken morgen zullen worden verscheept.
Gisteren had ik een, naar mijn idee, stevig mailtje gestuurd naar deze twee personen met daarin de vraag wanneer het boek nu eigenlijk/eindelijk wordt opgestuurd maar ook dat ik teleurgesteld ben hoe een en ander rondom dit project.
In de e-mail ontving ik nu in ieder geval het volgende bericht:
Dear Tjeerd,
The shipping of the books Photography in the Visual Culture 2021 is in progress.
Actually your copies will be shipped tomorrow.
I will send you the tracking number today.

Het goede nieuws is, of lijkt dat tenminste te zijn, dat morgen de boeken verscheept worden en dat ik daarvan de trackingcode zal krijgen.
Wat ik jammer vind is dat er verder geen reactie op de inhoud van mijn mail wordt gegeven, maar het zij zo.
Morgen dus goed de e-mail in de gaten houden voor de trackingcode.
De publicatie in onderdeel van The Visual Culture Project 2021 waarbij in eerste instantie ook een expositie hoorde in Milaan.
Die zou vorige maand hebben moeten plaatsvinden, maar de golf met besmettingen die Europa, en dus ook Italië, treft heeft er voor gezorgd dat deze expositie niet door is gegaan.
De expositie zou georganiseerd worden door Musa International Art Space.
Bij het project hoort echter ook een publicatie: het fotoboek Photography in the Visual Culture 2021(Volume 1).
Deze wordt uitgegeven door Serradifalco Editore en van hen ontving ik de e-mail dat de publicatie zal worden opgestuurd.
“Dear customer,
We are writing to inform you that the copies of the books ordered are ready to be shipped and will be delivered soon.
We are really sorry for running late with deliveries, it’s not depending on us.
We are making sure that all copies are delivered within a reasonable time.”
In de e-mail wordt aangegeven dat er vertraging is opgetreden en dat de schuld hiervan niet bij de uitgeverij ligt.
Waar die dan wel ligt wordt niet vermeld.
De bedoeling was dat de uitgave op 25 november zou worden opgestuurd en dat is nu dus uitgesteld tot vandaag.
Het zou leuk zijn wanneer het fotoboek nog voor Kerst op de mat valt.

This photo was shot in the corridor of the house of Merlin. Behind her there’s a softbox which wraps the light nicely around Merlins head. In front of Merlin is a reflector, bouncing light back to lighten up the shadows.

This photo was shot in the livingroom of Merlins parents. My studiowork is always made with my portable photostudio. I set up my photo studio in the model’s living room. It goes without saying that the size of the living room differs from shoot to shoot.

This photo was also shot in the livingroom of Merlins parents. A softbox was placed above Merlin, but in a way that the brim of the hat didn’t block the eyes of Merlin. Retouching and postwork of each photo will take up to four hours to get everything out of the photo that’s in it.
The photo was shot on location in the provence of Flevoland. Merlin had to promote the clothes she’s wearing for a brand and she asked me to make photos of these clothes. I used the walls of the buildings beside her as leading lines.
