Vanavond, vlak voor de deadline, heb ik een foto van Merlin ingestuurd voor de Legacy Photography Awards voor de maand juli.
De Legacy Photography Awards schrijft maandelijks een wedstrijd uit en in januari is daar voor het eerst aan meegedaan met een foto van Teline om mee te kunnen dingen naar de titel International Photographer of the Year.
Alle maanden van dit jaar heb ik aan deze wedstrijd meegedaan en over de ingestuurde foto’s worden mooie recensies geschreven.
De prestige van deze photography awards schat ik zelf niet zo heel erg hoog in.
Dit keer heb ik weer een “nieuwe” foto ingestuurd voor de wedstrijd: Merlin (0809).
Het is een foto van Merlin die alweer bijna drie jaar geleden gemaakt is tijdens haar 8e fotoshoot.
Deze shoot was bij Merlin thuis, waarbij de moeder van Merlin een tweetal high fashion jurken had gehuurd.
Een van de fashion jurken was rood en dat heeft een mooi kleurcontrast met Merlins blauwe ogen.
Met haar open blik maakt Merlin in deze portretfoto een fantastisch contact met de kijker naar de foto.
Ik ben heel benieuwd welke recensie de foto krijgt van de jury van de wedstrijd op grond van hun beoordelingscriteria:
“The photographs presented will be judged by the Legacy Photography Awards team and they will evaluate the originality, composition, lighting, creativity, visual impact and quality of retouching in case there is.
The team will choose a Winner, a Second and Third place in each category.
In the event that some photographs achieve the same score as those selected as Second and Third place, they will receive the same distinction ex aqueo.
The organisers will distinguish as Excellence those photos which in their opinion deserve to be highlighted for their merit and quality and that have come close to the podium.
An unspecified number of Honourable Mentions will also be chosen.
Said Honorable Mentions will be divided into 3 levels:
Honorable Mention Gold will be awarded to photographs that have reached an exceptional level and mastery of all areas.
Honorable Mention Silver will be awarded to photographs that the judges consider excellent in their execution in most areas even though it may present some errors in technical or artistic execution.
Honorable Mention Bronze will be achieved to those photographs that the judges consider deserve to be highlighted.
The winners, Badge of Excellence and Honorable Mentions will be announced on the website and social networks of Legacy Photography Awards in approximately one week after the verdict.”
De uitslag zal waarschijnlijk weer halverwege de volgende maand bekend worden gemaakt.
En nu maar hopen dat deze foto gewicht in de schaal gaat leggen om mee te dingen naar de titel International Photographer of the Year.
Daarvoor moet een fotograaf gedurende het hele jaar blijk geven van consistent werk of, zoals dat op de website valt te lezen:
“Aan het einde van het jaar kiezen we als winnaar van elke categorie de fotograaf die het hele seizoen zijn regelmaat en beheersing heeft getoond.”
