Vandaag een uitgebreid antwoord ontvangen over de mogelijke expositie tijdens een kunstbeurs in Carrousel du Louvre en exposities in de PAKS Gallery in Duitsland en Oostenrijk.

In reactie op de uitnodiging die ik eerder had ontvangen had ik een aantal vragen gesteld.

Eén van mijn vragen ging over het tentoonstellen in musea zoals dit als een mogelijkheid wordt geboden in het MAMAG Modern Art Museum. Het ging dan specifiek over het tentoonstellen in een privaat museum. Mijn vraag was of dan alleen het museum bezocht kan worden door genodigden en of dat, uit het oogpunt van een kunstenaar, niet minder bezoekers zou trekken.

Het antwoord daarop kwam van Heinz Playner, curator, kunstcriticus en directeur van PAKS Gallery:

As I can see you don’t have enough experience by the exhibitions of  artworks at art fairs and also in Museums. Most big museums are also private museums, for example Guggenheim Museum, Foundation Beyeler and other, where private collections will be shown.

The MAMAG Modern Art Museum is also a private museum. As in Guggenheim and Beyeler and other museum which are not in private own (government museums as Louvre, MOMA and other) all visitors who have an interest in art, can visit the MAMAG Modern Art Museum.

However by the gallery representation your artwork will be exhibited in the PAKS Gallery. For participation in MAMAG Modern Art Museum exhibition you need to pay an additional participation fee.

Most art fairs last between 3 and 5 days. As we have only some spaces for the participation in Caroussel du Louvre available, I recommend you to registrate your space as soon as possible, that is if you have an interest to exhibit your artwork in Carrousel du Louvre.
In the contemporary Art Fair the exhibited photo must be an original photo-artwork (only one printed photo) or one photo-artwork of a limited edition.

You can register for the art fair in Carrousel du Louvre until July 10th, 2018. Artworks must be send until September 10th.
Usually if an artist send an artwork before 10th September, it gives us enough time  to transport it to Paris.

Verder had ik een vraag gesteld over hoe het nu zit met het transport en de transportkosten als ik de combinatie expositie Carrousel du Louvre en PAKS Gallery zou nemen. Ik had uitgerekend dat na de expositie in Carrousel du Louvre de foto waarschijnlijk half december weer bij mij thuis zou kunnen zijn (de PAKS Gallery zorgt er eerst voor dat de foto naar Oostenrijk wordt gestuurd). Dan zou ik de foto zelf weer moeten opsturen naar Oostenrijk voor eventuele expositie in de PAKS Gallery en dat leek me dubbelop. Heinz reageert daar eerst in algemene bewoordingen op:

Transport costs to  and from the gallery pays the artist.
I recommend to take care of good packaging by shipping of your artwork to the PAKS Gallery. The gallery is not liable for damage of the artwork during transport to and from the gallery and also is the gallery not liable for damage of the artwork to and from the Exhibition place and during the exhibition. I recommend you to make an insurance for the exhibitions by your insurance company.

If you will participate in the Carrousel du Louvre and in the gallery representation, which is also better for your artist career to be represented in the art fair and in the gallery after the art fair for a whole year, of course after the art fair in Paris , if the artwork will be not sold, we can place it in our storage until the gallery representation. So you will not have additional transport costs.

Ik had ook nog een vraag over hoe de expositie er bij PAKS Gallery uit zou komen te zien. Het aanbod is om een jaar lang met één foto te exposeren, maar PAKS Gallery heeft vier locaties, waarvan drie in Oostenrijk en één in Duitsland. Mijn vraag was of de foto dan gedurende drie maanden in één locatie wordt tentoongesteld en vervolgens naar een andere locatie gaat of dat de foto een heel jaar lang in één locatie blijft.

The PAKS Gallery has 4 locations and the artwork will be exhibited in every location for about 3 months. So you have an amazing possibility to show your art to more people and  therefore more chances for sale. If the artwork will be sold, we will inform you and you can send another one at no extra expense.

Mijn laatste vraag betrof het prijskaartje wat aan de foto zou moeten komen te hangen. Zelf had ik uitgerekend dat de foto rond €1.000 zou moeten gaan kosten wil ik er alleen maar de kosten uit kunnen halen. En dat lijkt me een beetje teveel van het goede.

Nu alles maar eens even op me laten inwerken voordat ik een definitief besluit neem. Daarvoor heb ik nog een paar dagen, tot uiterlijk 10 juli. Er zijn zeker een aantal voordelen, waarvan de meest belangrijke toch wel is dat de foto – en dus mijn werk – onder vele ogen kan komen. In de vorige blog was al te lezen dat het aantal bezoekers wat de kunstbeurs gaat bezoeken zo rond de 20.000 ligt. En natuurlijk staat het ook goed op mijn curriculum vitae dat er geëxposeerd is in Carrousel du Louvre…
